Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! May we all remember the true meaning of this day and take time to honor those soldiers who fought for our freedom. I also love patriotic holidays because more people take the time to display the American flag. What a beautiful symbol of our country! Are you in love with the patriotic cottage shown above as much as I am?!?

Deskmate

Ohh la la! Amy Butler's "Mara Mi" desktop collection is finally available in stores and is to die for! If you're an office supplies nerd* like me, then these will be at the top of your list. I want them all! I can totally see these beauties nicely organizing and gracing my desk in the near future. My personal favorite is the garden collection (does this fabric look familiar anyone?!?)

*You secretly have an obsession for Staples, Office Depot, etc and could spend hours browsing the aisles. You insist on going down the school supplies aisle everytime you go to Walmart. The first day of school was your favorite day because you got to go school supplies shopping that night. get the picture?

Weekend with BB

This past weekend was such a blast and I was so excited to see AAF! Some highlights from the weekend included a trip to GDC (swoon), happy hour at the Pavilion Rooftop*, catching some rays on Sullivan's, and sunset drinks at Red's Icehouse on Shem Creek. The picture shown above was totally unplanned and candid (love it). As you can see, I got to sport my precious new tunic cover-up**. Cheers to fun lowcountry weekends with my best girlfriend!

*listening to 80's and reminiscing about our college days, naturally...
**handmade by my mother, of course...

Hop Frog & The Sleeper

This week has literally flown by. I've been busy at work (what else is new?) and preparing for some weekend guests! My long time best friend, Buckhead Belle, is venturing to Charleston this weekend and bringing along another favorite, AAL! Since AAL has never been to the lowcountry before (gasp!), we will be doing some fun exploring and sight seeing. Plans are in order for a trip to Poe's Tavern. If you've never been to Poe's Tavern on Sullivan's Island, then you MUST go next time you're in Charleston. The restaurant spins off of Edgar Allen Poe* and everything on the menu is named after one of his works. My personal favorite is the "Tell-Tale Heart", a grilled chicken sandwich with a fried egg, applewood bacon, and cheddar cheese. yummmm.

*Fun Lowcountry Fact: Did you know that Poe served in the Army at Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island?

Poolside Paradise

I am in love with this swimming pool that is just the perfect size to go alongside a Charleston single house. Those scorching lowcountry summer days would be instantly cooled with a dip in this little oasis. How magical it would be to have one of these surrounded by a gorgeous garden, right in the middle of downtown. No one would even begin to realize such a thing existed beyond the gate of tall trees. But inside..this secret garden houses a pool big enough for me to kick back on a float, sip on a frozen concoction, and enjoy a good read. Bliss.

Lowcountry Lighthouse

I was so excited to see the Morris Island Lighthouse featured in last month's issue of Coastal Living. This lighthouse is a trademark to Charleston and has such a weathered charm. Located off the shore of Folly Beach, the lighthouse has been standing since 1876. If a visit to the lowcountry is in your future, make a trip to Folly Beach and check out this historical gem. Or go by boat and enjoy a day filled with sunshine and pina coladas on Morris Island! Cheers to that!

Quelle heure est-til?

Time flies. My blog has been oh-so-bare lately as time has completely escaped me. I traveled home this past weekend and had such a relaxing time with the family. Now it's back to the grind with work, work, work...and some play. It's that time of year in the lowcountry when the beach is constantly calling my name. Once I find some time to catch up on things, I hope to bring more exciting, inspiring blog posts and perhaps sewing tutorials for all of you. For now, I leave you with these unique little timepieces. How have you been spending your time?!

*Francais anyone? Non? Quelle heure est-til = what time is it?

Jadeite

I am totally dying to get my hands on some vintage jadeite dishware. These pieces are so simple and soothing to the eye. I would love to fill up a shabby chic cupboard with these creamy, swoon-worthy goods. Jadeite has unlimited multi-purpose uses as well. Use teacups, canisters, or bowls as storage containers to bring life to your everyday items. Imagine jadeite goblets filled with pens, pencils or make-up brushes, a teacup housing a vintage button collection, or an apothecary jar displaying beautiful soaps in your bathroom. The possibilites are endless. Don't you just adore the calming qualities of these pieces?

Let's Fiesta!

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Time to shake things up and fiesta!  I love a good Cinco de Mayo celebration...and here are a few essentials to plan a shakin' good party.

Tacos (of course). Festive Invitations. Maracas. Fiesta Dinnerware. Paper Flowers (homemade anyone?). Margaritas (frozen please!). Pinata. Del Sol Flag Banner.

Now, whose ready to salsa, macarena, shuffle and shake it?!?
