Seaside Style Sale

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today Rue La La is having a sale on some seriously cute seaside-esq throw pillows. Wouldn't these be so cute on turquoise slipcovered furniture in a seaside cottage? Or just to add some sea loving accents to your home. I'm loving the orange turtle and trellis print pillows.

Target does Trellis

During my weekly Target trip last week, I spied with my little eye..trellis outdoor pillows. Wait, could it be? These look just like Kelly Wearstler's Imperial Trellis fabric! no.way. Target is totally channeling the beloved imperial trellis, for a small fraction of the price. Like many, I have been deeply in love with Wearstler's imperial trellis for quite some time. My bank account on the other hand, not so much. So is it just me, or do these two look strikingly similar? Either way, these Target pillows are a total steal and would make any patio the best on the block.

Coral Inspired Dining Room

I'm totally swooning over this coastal inspired dining room. The color palette is almost exact to my bedroom colors. Loving those coral covered chairs and the light aqua curtain panels. And isn't that sea coral chandelier to die for? I picture many long dinner parties centered around this table, with hours full of laughter and chatter. love.love.love.

Trina Does Trellis

It's finally moving week and I cannot wait to get all settled into my new place. And I especially cannot wait to decorate and show you pictures! But for now I leave you with a picture of my new bedding. I'm slightly obsessed with it. Trellis and Trina. What's a girl not to love?

Christmas Favorites: Part 1

Whoa. The hustle and bustle of holiday season has had me running around and definitely keeping busy. Since I'm overly obsessed with Christmas and love decorating for the holidays, I wanted to share some of my favoite things with you all! Growing up my mother and grandmother have always collected Byers' Choice Christmas Carolers...which has led to my own collection. I love how each one is so different with their own unique details. All grouped together, they make for a lovely, cheerful display on a mantle, dresser, side table or wherever your heart desires. Do any of you collect carolers too?!

Just a few of my Christmas Caroler lovelies!

Rockin' Rug

I'm currently obsessing over this Arabesque Coral Rug by Global Views. Love the orange punch and pattern play that this brings to a room. I'm thinking an exquisite pair of turquoise and gold lamps would make a great combination with this rug...isn't it divine?

"Grey" Matter

ABC's Premier Week is finally here and all my favorite shows are back in full swing! Last night was the first of the two-part premier for DWTS (Dancing with The Stars). I have to say, George and Lacey were my favorite dance of last night. But I think Jennifer Grey (aka Baby from Dirty Dancing) and Derek Hough are going to be a real showstopper this season.

What I'm most excited for this week is the highly anticipated Grey's Anatomy premier! Oh-my-gosh did you see the final episode last season? Total jaw dropper. You will find me glued to my TV this Thursday night to see what happens with Meredith, McDreamy, Yang, and the rest of the Seattle Grace crew (or what's left of them).

And since this week is full of "greys", I wanted to share some of my favorite grey pillows I've had my eye on...

Nautical Nautilus

As soon as I saw this nautilus pillow from Pottery Barn go on sale - two clicks and it was sold. The colors just so happened to be perfect for my living room and with a $12 dollar price tag, it was a no brainer (not to mention the..gasp!..free shipping).  Want some fun nautical pillows that design on a dime? Go check out Pottery Barn's end of summer sale before they're all gone. Who says outdoor pillows can't be used indoors?!

Garden Party

Garden party anyone? I'm loving all the floral inspired trends as of late and picked a few of my favorites. All of those shown below can be found at the beloved Anthropologie. This theme could be used for anything - bridal luncheon, baby shower, tea party birthday, or just an excuse to get together with your best girlfriends and get all dolled up. So many prints and bright colors, oh la la I'm in heaven!

Old Blue Chair

Today I wanted to share with you a chair that I recovered for less than $50 dollars. Yep, I said fifty. I bought this chair on one my trips home a couple months ago for only $23 dollars!! I immediately fell in love with the white shabby chic details in the arms and legs. The fabric, not so much. I stripped off all the fabric and much to my surprise, found that the chair was stuffed with horse hair and hay. Ahh! I'm pretty sure this makes it an antique.

Step 1: I bought a few yards of blue fabric from the upholstery remnants table at the fabric store ($8) and some upholstery tacks ($16). Unfortunately, I do not have a "before" picture with the old fabric. Trust me, it was a sight to see! I won't go into detail about how I recovered the seat part because it was trial and error on my part. I simply tucked, tightened, and stapled the fabric up under the chair and then nailed in tacks all the way around the bottom.

Here's the back of the chair before I recovered. This presented a dilemma because I've never done anything like this and so it sat for a few months like this while I pondered.

Step 2: Eureka! I got a poster board, traced the shape of the back of the chair, and cut it out. I covered the poster board with fabric and glued the edges down around the back. Next, I covered about 2.5 yards of very thick cording ($1.50). I used a hot glue gun to secure the cording around the poster board.

Step 3: To secure the covered poster board to the back of the chair, I used a staple gun and forcefully stapled between the crease of the cording and edge of the chair. I made sure to staple far enough down in the crease so that the cording would hide the staples. After that, I went around and used the hot glue gun to glue any unsecured places between the chair and poster board. You cannot even tell hot glue was involved in this process. See the finished product above and below.

Ta da! I usually use my little coral monogrammed pillow in the chair, but wanted to show you a picture with and without. I'll be the first to admit that this chair is by no means of professional re-upholstering quality. But for less than $50 bucks I can't complain. And besides, I was going for the shabby chic look. What do you think?!?

Jadeite

I am totally dying to get my hands on some vintage jadeite dishware. These pieces are so simple and soothing to the eye. I would love to fill up a shabby chic cupboard with these creamy, swoon-worthy goods. Jadeite has unlimited multi-purpose uses as well. Use teacups, canisters, or bowls as storage containers to bring life to your everyday items. Imagine jadeite goblets filled with pens, pencils or make-up brushes, a teacup housing a vintage button collection, or an apothecary jar displaying beautiful soaps in your bathroom. The possibilites are endless. Don't you just adore the calming qualities of these pieces?

Distressed

Bar none, my favorite furniture is the distressed, shabby chic look. Isn't this chest to die for? I love the way it looks with the white-washed wood floors and antique lamps. I've done some "distressing" of my own furniture in the past and would love to share with you the results. This week has been tres busy with work, so once I find a minute I'll post some furniture re-creations of my own. Don't be afraid to paint with colors and brighten up your room! Happy hump day!

She Sells Seashells by the Seashore

Say that 3 times fast! In lieu of summer quickly approaching and all things nautical...I can't get enough of sea inspired home decor. Here are a few of my favorites:
