Useless Umbrella
Saw this e-card and just had to laugh. If you live in Charleston (esp downtown), then you know how true this rings. There have been several occasions this year that when it rains, it literally floods. No, i'm not even joking. If you drive a sedan, forget about getting in your car. The rain mixed with the high tide causes the water to rise above car doors and people are wading down the street. Rainboots required. Being one of two people in my office that lives and works downtown, we are the only ones at work for the first few hours on these torrential downpour days. I guess we'll hold down the fort, if we don't all float away...

My American Dream
Thanks to Charleston Girl for sweetly tagging me for this award! This one definately got me thinking.
Describe where you will be in 10 years...
In 10 years I hope to be happily married and living in either Upstate South Carolina or North Georgia. I will be in my mid-30's and therefore, hope to have some "fratlings", or some on the way. I will drive the ultimate mom fratmobile. If I have girls, they will wear huge hairbows every single day, just like my mom made me. My house will be impeccably clean at all times. I will have obtained tons more sewing experience by then and would love to have my own interior decorating/sewing business. I'd also love to re-upholster furniture. And if time permits, I'd love to get into dress making. My husband-to-be will be amazingly successful and we will be building the lake house of our dreams. He will clean the house, cook dinner, AND do the dishes (pshh..yeah right). Therefore, I will have plenty of time to sit on the front porch sipping a glass of wine every afternoon while reading a good book. I'll spend the other half of my time planning theme parties and get togethers for our family, friends and kids. Now that's the American dream, right?
I'll pass this along to any of my followers that would like to share their future dreams for the next decade. I'd love to hear about it!

Pickin' & Grinnin'
Happy Friday! I'm off to Lake Rabun (again) for an action packed weekend on the water. With the annual Beach Music Bash* tomorrow night, I'm sure there will be plenty of shagging on the boulevard with mr. sixty minute man. Oh domino, here's to another weekend of making memories. And not wrecking golf carts...

Weighing Me Down
Alas, it has been one crazy, hectic, busy, stressful week at the office. But don't get me wrong, I'd rather be a busy bee than a bored betty any day of the week. If only I had one of these oh so precious paper weights to grace my stack of papers...

Fine Dining
I could be swept out to sea with this lovely Waterford Seahorse Ocean piece set. Loving the calming blue and white palette, accented with that adorable silver seahorse. What's your favorite fine china?

Tell It All Thursday
Sending everyone a big Happy Thursday from the lowcountry! Charleston Girl was so sweet to tag me for this questionnaire earlier this week.
1. Favorite color?
GREEN. I've always been drawn to kelly green, apple green, seafoam green, jadeite, etc. My favorites include my green ipod, green MyAgenda, and distressed green nightstand.
2. Favorite restaurant?
82 Queen. It's secret garden atmosphere and delectable food are to die for. Such a romantic little restaurant tucked away in the heart of downtown Charleston. love it.
3. What does your room look like?
Shabby Chic with distressed accents. My bed is pictured below. One of these days I'll actually get around to posting pictures of my distressed furniture...
4. If you could have dinner with two people, dead or alive, who would they be?
My grandfather and great grandmother on my dad's side. I was too young to remember my dad's father, Clayton, but have heard countless stories about him. He was the milkman back in the day when they still delivered milk to your front porch. I've also been told that I resemble my dad's grandmother, Katie. I would love to get to know them.
5. What is your favorite quote?
"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." (insert need for tidy green MyAgenda here)
6. Anything else you would like to share?
I swear I must have been a fish in my previous life. I swam competitively for 13 years for both summer leagues and year-round teams. I absolutely loved the water and the thrill of the race. I will never forget that 5 second feeling of stepping up on the blocks, taking "my mark", listening for the start gun to roar into the sky, and sprinting through the cool water. Oh how I miss those days of being a "pool rat". But...my hair sure doesn't miss turning green every summer.

Nautical Nautilus
As soon as I saw this nautilus pillow from Pottery Barn go on sale - two clicks and it was sold. The colors just so happened to be perfect for my living room and with a $12 dollar price tag, it was a no brainer (not to mention the..gasp!..free shipping). Want some fun nautical pillows that design on a dime? Go check out Pottery Barn's end of summer sale before they're all gone. Who says outdoor pillows can't be used indoors?!

I'm on Lake Time
I'm off to Lake Rabun, GA with boyfriend for the weekend for some much needed R&R. Nothing better than hanging out on the boathouse in the afternoon, listening to some Old Crow and drinking a Red Stripe. If you need me, I'll be on lake time...

Garden Party
Garden party anyone? I'm loving all the floral inspired trends as of late and picked a few of my favorites. All of those shown below can be found at the beloved Anthropologie. This theme could be used for anything - bridal luncheon, baby shower, tea party birthday, or just an excuse to get together with your best girlfriends and get all dolled up. So many prints and bright colors, oh la la I'm in heaven!

Free As We'll Ever Be
We anxiously blew up the megastation. We floated. We wore nautical hairbows. We cruised on the boat to watch fireworks. We waved flags. We told stories and shared memories. We celebrated our country's freedom. We had the time of our lives. God Bless America! How did you spend your 4OJ?
